The key difference lies not only in the system but also in the method. Water-jet assisted liposuction (WAL) is one of the clinically established and well-studied liposuction techniques – with particular relevance in the treatment of lipedema.
While traditional methods rely on large-volume pre-infiltration, WAL operates on a different principle: A fan-shaped, pulsating water-jet selectively loosens the fatty tissue, allowing it to be suctioned out while minimizing damage to surrounding structures.
The pulsating water-jet selectively breaks down the fatty tissue while simultaneously suctioning it out. There is no need to alter the tissue volume through large-volume pre-infiltration with a tumescent solution.
An additional advantage:
The harvested fat cell clusters are of high quality and have a high survival rate, making them ideal for lipofilling applications.
